DAMPPROOFING IS NOT WATERPROOFING
Dampproofing is a great way to protect a foundation when the conditions support the application. Most dampproofing products are asphaltic and are roll or spray applied. Dampproofing is cheaper than Waterproofing. We recommend dampproofing when the structure you are coating is not protecting interior occupied space.
WHAT IS THE MAIN DIFFERENCE
Dampproofing systems are designed to withstand soil moisture and water vapor. Waterproofing systems are designed to withstand hydrostatic load and liquid water.
HOW TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF A DAMP PROOFING SYSTEM
Prior to back fill, install a drain-tile and a drainage mat to handle any water introduction.
