WATER MANAGEMENT – DRAINAGE AND LENS SYSTEMS
Water Management is a cost effective solution to correct water intrusion issues. On an existing building, somethings as simple as changing the landscape pitch can correct an existing leak.
DRAINAGE MATS
Drainage Mats are typically a supportive accessory for waterproofing systems, but Drainage Mast alone can act as a waterproofing solution. The main purpose of a drainage mat is eliminating hydrostatic load. Water follows the path of least resistance.
CRITICAL ITEMS FOR DRAINAGE MAT SUCCESS
1. Draintile is absolutely necessary. If a drainage mat is installed, there must be a system in place to handle the water-load at the foundation footing.
2. Filter Fabric must encapsulate the drainage mat core. The main function of a drainage mat is to provide a path for water to travel. If the filter fabric on the drainage mat is compromised, it is likely the drainage mat core will fill up with silt and over time eliminate the functionality of the drainage mat.
LENS SYSTEM
On New or Existing buildings, a Lens System is a great way to manage the water being introduced to the structure site. This is a great option for existing projects with excavation limitations.
